UFC might finally come through with the bout between Amanda Ribas and Paige VanZant. According to Combate.com, a date for the fixture is now out.
In an event that the UFC will name when the time comes, PVZ and Amanda have verbally agreed to fight each other. Reportedly, the fight will take place on 11 July 2020.
The two were originally scheduled to face off at UFC Fight Night: Lee vs. Oliveira on 14 March. However, Paige VanZant had to pull out of the bout due to injury. She fractured her right arm for the third time and pulled out of the bout in January itself.
Nevertheless, “12 gauge” is ready to step back into the Octagon. The fight will be her last one as per her contract with the UFC. Thus, she will look to end her contract on a high note.
One of the pioneers of women’s MMA in the UFC, VanZant last fought in January 2019. She faced Rachael Ostovich at UFC Fight Night: Cejudo vs. Dillashaw. Riding low on a 2-fight loss streak, she turned the tide by submitting her opponent in the second round via armbar submission.
Paige VanZant vs. Amanda Ribas: Where will it take place?
As the world struggles to battle the coronavirus, the UFC is trying its best to bring back fights for the fans. It successfully conducted an action-packed fight week at Jacksonville, Florida.
Now, as the UFC looks around for other venues, there are various speculations going around regarding the venues. The most probable venue for the upcoming fight is the UFC’s Apex Arena.
As the fixture for PVZ and Ribas is fixed for July, there’s a much more solid chance of their fight taking place on the Fight Island. Dana White is looking to have the island operational by Mid-June. Therefore, there is a good chance of seeing them battle it out at the place that only fight-fables know of today.
Moreover, Paige, too, believes that the Fight Island is going to be the destination of her final contractual fight.
