The coach of Paços de Ferreira said today that the team is ready to start the first football league, praised the reinforcements and criticized the absence of fans in the stadiums, before the debut with Portimonense, on Monday.
“It was an atypical pre-season in terms of what happened in the recovery and after a 20-day break [férias]. We had to make a balance of forces, because we have in the squad who have not competed since March and we must be very careful with the loads. The team evolved progressively, within what we expected, and I feel the team is prepared ”, said Pepa, in a press conference.
Paços lost a few players from last season’s base team and secured 10 reinforcements. Pepa praised the entries and revealed that the group is growing, as he wished and wanted, to introduce himself to Paços.
“This is a special club, we want to play for Paços and this is achieved with work, educating those who arrive. It depends on everyone. It is in the day-to-day, with rules, in the way we deal with opponents, respecting everyone to the maximum, that it is built. We have to be a strong family, because the championship is over, ”he stressed.
The coach from Pacense did not call the squad closed, in the certainty that there would be more entries in case someone left, without making it a drama, not least because “it is a pleasure to help players grow and be valued”.
Paços de Ferreira starts the championship in the Algarve, in front of the recap of Portimonense, but Pepa speaks of “a strong team”.
“We will face a team with the same coach and who has made a fantastic recovery. We realized that he kept many players from last season and went looking for others who know the house well ”, he said.
The most critical tone of his speech was dedicated to the absence of fans in the stadiums, with Pepa arguing that “there was enough time for things to have been studied”.
“The venues are large, outdoors, and you could spread fans across the stands. It costs me to understand why it doesn’t happen. The country will not stop and we are the activity that has done the most tests and does. We’ve done more than 20 tests, but that’s what it is. The fans are sorely missed. There were already conditions for football to receive supporters in a safe, thoughtful and organized way. The fans are irreplaceable ”, he concluded.
Paços de Ferreira’s debut in the 2020/21 edition of the 1st Football League takes place in the Algarve, against Portimonense, on Monday, in a game scheduled for 19:45.
