Exame Informática | Google gives more prominence on Maps to wheelchair accessible places

The Accessible Places feature debuts today in
Google Maps and will gradually reach all users of Android and
iOS. The technological giant will now present a wheelchair icon
in places that are more easily accessible by people with
mobility in the map app. In addition to the accesses, the marking will be shown together
of places that have adapted bathrooms or parking spaces
reserved. “If it is confirmed that a location does not have an accessible entrance, this information
will also be available on Maps ”, explains Google cited by The
Verge
.

The technological giant relies on the community's efforts
through Local Guides volunteers to update this information. For another
hand, store owners were also able to contribute data through Google
My Business for your own businesses.

Users interested in enabling this feature
go to Settings, select Accessibility and check
Accessible Places.

“We invite everyone to activate Acessible Places and contribute
with accessibility information to help people in your communities ”,
said Google in its statement.
