At the daily press conference, held from Downing Street, the minister indicated that the country registered in the last 24 hours 2,959 new cases of contagion by covid-19.
The figures released on Friday had pointed to the existence of 351 more deaths than the previous day and 3,287 new cases of contagion.
The general downward trend in these numbers has led the government to stick to the plan to continue to ease the containment regime, with a new phase scheduled for early June to partially open primary schools and non-essential stores.
The government also intends to introduce a 14-day quarantine system to people arriving from abroad to try to halt the transmission of covid-19.
Globally, according to a report by the AFP news agency, the covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 338,000 deaths and infected more than 5.2 million people in 196 countries and territories.
