The diagnosed case, says the official in a note, refers to a 25-year-old woman, “not resident in the Azores, who arrived in the region from an air connection with the mainland on August 1, having obtained it on arrival positive result for the SARS-CoV-2 virus ”.
The woman “has a stable clinical situation and the procedures defined for confirmed cases, testing and surveillance of close contacts have already been taken care of by the municipal health delegation”.
The Health Authority also notes that there was a recovered case of a 65-year-old man who landed in the region, on Terceira Island, on July 14.
So far, 175 cases of infection with the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the covid-19 disease, have been detected in the Azores, and there are currently 16 active positive cases, all of them on the island of São Miguel.
