Covid-19: France registers 74 dead in the last 24 hours

Of the total fatalities caused by the virus, 17,944 were recorded in hospital units and 10,345 occurred in nursing homes and centers for people who, for reasons of health or disability, need constant care.

Due to the long weekend in France, the figures for deaths registered in homes will not be updated until Monday.

There are currently 17,383 people hospitalized in France due to the virus and 1,701 of these patients are admitted to intensive care.

In the last 24 hours, 393 new cases were confirmed in the country, thus bringing the total number since the beginning of the pandemic to 144,556, with 64,209 people cured.

France is currently the fourth country in the world with the most deaths due to the virus after the United States (94,729 dead), the United Kingdom (36,393 dead) and Italy (32,616 dead).

Globally, according to a report by the AFP news agency, the covid-19 pandemic has already claimed almost 330,000 deaths and infected more than 5.1 million people in 196 countries and territories.
