Covid-19: China registers 13 new imported cases, the same number as the previous day

The 13 ‘imported’ cases recorded in the last 24 hours were diagnosed in Shanghai (5), Guangzhou (4), Shaanxi (2), Tianjin (1) and Sichuan (1).

Authorities said that, in the past 24 hours, 20 patients were discharged, so the number of infected people active in the Asian country stood at 252, including five in serious condition.

This was the third day in a row that the recent outbreak in Qingdao City has not produced new infections.

The outbreak at the Qingdao City Lung Disease Hospital ended nearly two months without local infections in the Asian country.

Qingdao added a total of 13 confirmed cases and one asymptomatic, from the United Kingdom, who is in quarantine.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, China has registered 85,672 infected and 4,634 killed due to covid-19, the disease caused by the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 1.1 million deaths and more than 39.3 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a report by the news agency France-Presse (AFP).

In Portugal, 2,162 people died from 98,055 confirmed cases of infection, according to the most recent bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.

After Europe succeeded China as the center of the pandemic in February, the American continent is now the one with the most confirmed cases and the most deaths.
