In a statement, that company states that the resumption of the passenger transport service will be made “gradually and progressively” in most lines, after all drivers, reviewers and service personnel have been tested at covid-19, “with negative results ”.
Since March 29, with the declaration of the first period of state of emergency in Cape Verde, to contain the pandemic, the urban passenger transport service provided by SolAtlântico has been suspended.
The resumption of transport, starting on Monday, requires users to use a mask inside the buses, with the exception of children up to six years old, the company also says.
Cape Verde has accumulated 371 cases of covid-19 since March 19, three deaths and 142 recovered patients, but only the island of Santiago still has active cases of the disease, in a total of 236.
All 56 cases diagnosed on the island of Boa Vista have already been reported as recovered, as are the three cases in São Vicente.
The island of Santiago, the only one in the archipelago in a state of emergency, until 24:00 on May 29, totals 312 cases (84% of the total country) diagnosed with the disease, of which 304 in Praia, the main focus of the pandemic in the archipelago.
Globally, according to a report by the AFP news agency, the covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 338,000 deaths and infected more than 5.2 million people in 196 countries and territories.
More than 1.9 million patients were considered cured.
