Covid-19: 2020/21 French league to start on August 23

According to the document, which the French news agency AFP had access to, the LFP specifies that it is only a provisional calendar and is awaiting an announcement from UEFA regarding the European competition dispute.

“[The LFP board of directors] set the start of the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 championships on August 23 and 22, 2020, respectively,” this draft calendar reads, according to AFP.

The French League was canceled on April 30, after French Prime Minister Éduard Philippe's announcement that sports competitions could not be resumed due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Paris Saint-Germain was declared champion, adding the ninth title in its history, the third consecutive, after the championship was canceled to the 28th round, of 38 predicted.

After the declaration of a pandemic, on March 11, sports competitions of almost all modalities were played without public, postponed – Olympic Games Tokyo2020, Euro2020 and Copa America -, suspended, in the cases of national championships and international events, or even canceled .
