The Catenary Conservation Vehicle (VCC), which was rammed on Friday by the Alfa Pendular train, in Soure, Coimbra district, passed a red light and entered the Northern Line, says the agency responsible for the investigation today.
According to an Information Note from the Office for the Prevention and Investigation of Aircraft Accidents and Railway Accidents (GPIAAF), to which the Lusa agency had access, the VCC “of the infrastructure manager had a march established for his travel between Entroncamento and Mangualde” , was manned by two workers (the two fatalities) and “would not do any work during the course of his trip”.
At 15:12, explains the GPIAAF, the VCC stopped at the guardrail of the Soure station waiting for the passage of the Alfa Pendular but, a few moments later, “for reasons that are currently undetermined and that will be deepened in the course of the investigation , the VCC resumes its march, overtaking the signal that remained red ”.
