17-Year-Old Sam Mayer Set to Race for JR Motorsports in NASCAR Xfinity Series

Sam Mayer has been declared as JR Motorsports’ new driver from mid-2021 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He will subsequently start driving for the team in the capacity of a full-timer in 2022, the group declared on Tuesday.

Sam Mayer has been one of the most remarkable young drivers in the ARCA Menards Series. Mayer has put forth an astonishing show this season in all the three arrangements.

Mayer won eight of his 16 races this season over the three ARCA Menards divisions. He won 3 in the East Series and four in the ARCA Menards Series.

Above all, he won the only West Series race he started this season. However, he contended in three Gander Outdoors Truck Series races with the best finish of fourth.

JRM reports, “When Sam first came to run the late model a couple of years ago, he was adamant he would be racing an Xfinity car for us someday,” said Kelley Earnhardt Miller, JRM General Manager.

“I admired his initiative then, and now we’re happy to help make his dream a reality. It will be quite a step up, but it’s one he’s ready to make. He’s shown that he has the skills to be successful at a very high level.”

The 17-year-old Mayer is currently racing part-time in Truck and ARCA races. He won four ARCA races last season. In addition, he drove for GMS Racing in 2019 and won the K&N Pro Series East title that season.

“Being able to share this news makes me very excited for the coming year. I hope I can learn as much as I can in the second half of next season and to be ready to go race fulltime for the NXS championship in 2022.”
